CADENA will help 20,000 drought victims in Kenya

Global warming and the “El Niño Turkana” phenomenon have left the rural communities of Turkana, Kenya, without water – killing their cattle and their plantations, causing famine and putting survival in check.

As every year, CADENA will support approximately 3,000 households with pantries; Medical consultations; sunglasses (to help with the prevention of cataracts, the most common cause of vision loss in people over 40 in the nomadic communities of Kenya); ecological and reusable sanitary napkins for women in high school so that they can attend classes during their menstrual period since without them they are not allowed to attend; Emotional support and fun. CADENA will also hold a dental day with the children to teach them the importance of oral hygiene.

“The humanitarian commitment transcends borders. As an international organization, we move sea and land to give some hope to those who live in the most remote places in the World.”

Benjamin Laniado

In addition to having to pay their per diems and go through an arduous selection process, each of the 21 participating volunteers has to collect 60,000 MXN for the mission. “It’s a huge challenge, but we know that all resources will go to those who need it most” said Talia Raich, who has raised 70,000 MXN. “For me, it is a privilege to be able to support with what they need most.”

The mission will depart from Nairobi on May 26 to June 2, 2019. For more information, visit https://cadena.ngo/en or get in touch with us at info@cadena.ngo.
