AGUA YA Cachuila, Alta Verapaz

By CADENA

Axis: Health and Resilience

Office: Guatemala

From November 6 to 8, 2023, CADENA Guatemala deployed a humanitarian intervention with the support of the Red Cross of Alta Verapaz to assist the communities affected by the seasonal floods in Cachuila. Together with our volunteers, we delivered medicines, water filters and carried out medical campaigns in different educational centers. In total we delivered 7 water filters, 1 water system consisting of 2 water tanks and 3 filters, in addition to 97 medical consultations with delivery of medicines.

Throughout this intervention, we were able to assist people from indigenous communities in vulnerable situations after the floods caused by the rains in the national territory. With the support of the Red Cross in Verapaz, we were able to benefit 21,282 people who now have free medicine and drinking water. This is how we contribute to the reduction of gastrointestinal diseases and support community development in terms of health and resilience.
