CADENA Colombia developed a project to support the migrant population that crosses the Darien jungle. After a field study in the area, we were able to detect the main needs and areas of opportunity, with this we developed a permanent project to assist the most vulnerable people before crossing the Darien. In early September 2023 we started the project in Necoclí, Antioquia on the Colombian-Panamanian border and will continue until mid-2024 to provide long-term support.

In collaboration with ADRA, we benefited 3,000 people with the delivery of kits that facilitate their passage through the jungle. These kits include: portable water filters, soup sachets, rehydrating salts, flashlights, dolls for infants, creams, cereal bars, insect repellent, water purification tablets and backpacks. The humanitarian crisis faced by mobile people in Necoclí worsens every day as they cross the jungle. The lack of basic resources and the precarious conditions in which they find themselves have generated an unprecedented crisis, which is why CADENA Colombia seeks projects that can respond to the conditions that affect the contexts of human mobility.
