In the early morning of October 25, Hurricane Otis made landfall. One of the worst disasters we have experienced as a country and the first category V hurricane to hit the Mexican Pacific coast, causing damage to hundreds of thousands of people. From CADENA Mexico, we deployed immediately to respond and attend to the needs of the people affected in Guerrero.

From October 26 to 31, only 12 hours after the hurricane hit, CADENA deployed our search and rescue team. A six-day activation that provided support to people who were cut off from communication, assistance in the evacuation of vulnerable people and psychological support. After identifying the population in need of urgent assistance, we managed their evacuation by ambulance or truck, depending on their case. In total, we evacuated 115 people and supported entire families with our CADENA Connect system.

With the support of the Coppel Foundation, Fondo Unido Mexico, and our volunteers: seven people from the Go Team. Go Team, one person from the communications team, a psychologist and 10 Pathfinders. PathfindersWe were able to activate quickly, providing assistance during the first hours of this unprecedented disaster. This intervention was the beginning of our “Warrior Spirit”. a campaign that continued through the end of the year to support people affected by Hurricane Otis.
