Generating Resilience in Embarcación, Argentina

Between June 7 and 12, 2023, CADENA Argentina activated a humanitarian intervention in Embarcación, a city located in the province of Salta. We became active as it is a vulnerable community and presents several difficulties to get drinking water and other basic services. During this intervention we conducted emotional management workshops, restored drinking water and sanitary systems in the school of the region, offered medical consultations to the local population, generated spaces for women, and implemented a workshop to assemble reusable menstrual pads.

In the five days that this activation lasted, we managed to generate a positive impact on the health and resilience of the community of Embarcación. Hand in hand with two people from the medical team and 7 people from the general volunteering, we delivered hand to hand: 93 plates of hot food, bulk food, 430 articles of clothing, 30 pairs of shoes, 4 community water filters, 150 cleaning kits, 150 reusable menstrual management towels and 2 tinacos.

We also understand that building resilience must be done with a multidisciplinary perspective, so we focused on different areas throughout this response. In our emotional management workshop, 150 children participated, and in our medical consultations we attended 80 people from the community. With the installation of drinking water systems, we benefited 1,520 people who will be able to access this service whenever they need it. We also provided first aid and healthy habits training to school personnel. In addition, thanks to our women’s space, we were able to create a safe listening environment.
