Due to the heavy and constant rains in the territory, an alert was raised by the Start Network Foundation in conjunction with ASECSA to respond in the communities affected by these phenomena. CADENA Guatemala responded to the alert issued and with the support of our general volunteers and personnel from the municipality of Puerto Barrios, Izabal, we delivered aid hand to hand and carried out medical campaigns. From July 17 to 20, 2023 we responded to the needs of the communities of Punta Manabique, San Francisco del Mar, El Ceibal, Machaquitas Chiclero and La Graciosa in the area of Puerto Barrios, Izabal.

We delivered 400 food pantries, 400 hygiene kits and 2 water systems with 2 water tanks and 3 filters each. We also provided 126 consultations and medicines, benefiting a total of 4,966 people. In collaboration with Start Network Hub Guatemala and the Municipality of Puerto Barrios, we were able to provide support to communities affected by flooding and crop loss.
