Within the framework of our new project “Initiative Community”, CADENA, the humanitarian arm of the Jewish Community of Guatemala, carried out several humanitarian interventions during the month of December, with the objective of promoting the personal and professional growth of the winners of the CADENA Initiative program. Through the leadership and commitment of these young people and teachers, we developed activities of great impact in several communities in the country. In the second week of December, as part of the “Magical December” campaign, a total of 39 new volunteers participated with enthusiasm, dedication and responsibility, benefiting more than 1,500 people in different regions of Guatemala.
Humanitarian interventions in Petén, Quiché, Retalhuleu, Zacapa and Suchitepéquez Petén: We visited the Mesón Buen Samaritano nursing home, where we spent time with the elderly. During the activity, we handed out blankets and gloves to protect them from the cold in these winter seasons. Quiché: At the Sor Herminia Home for the Elderly, we held a day of coexistence in which, in addition to handing out blankets and hats for the cold, we carried out artistic activities together with the elderly, generating moments of joy and strengthening the bonds between generations. Retalhuleu: At the Crecer Center, where children with special needs are cared for, we shared a day full of recreational and educational activities. We delivered educational kits to stimulate creativity and learning of children, providing a space for enjoyment and personal development. Zacapa: In Aldea Guayabal, we organized a community day that included recreational activities and training in teamwork, in addition to handing out school supplies to support the education of children in the community. Suchitepéquez: In this department we visited the school in Caserío San Miguelito to promote the conscious use of water and provide safe water to the community through the installation of water filters.
The interventions carried out by the Comunidad Iniciativa program not only provide immediate help to vulnerable communities, but also empower young leaders, developing their personal and professional skills. We thank the 39 volunteers who, with their commitment and effort, achieved a significant impact in the communities visited, highlighting the importance of collaboration and teamwork. We will continue with the training, professionalization and implementation of Comunidad Iniciativa! For more information, please consult our social networks or contact the press team.
