CLOSING OF THE LA GUAJIRA WELLS PROJECT

In the heart of La Guajira, where thirst shapes the daily life of thousands, something extraordinary took place. What began in 2022 as an emergency response evolved into CADENA Colombia’s most transformative initiative to date. Between 2022 and 2025, we built and rehabilitated 28 wells in 28 communities.

This achievement was made possible thanks to the collaboration of local communities, volunteers, companies, partner organizations, and the Ministry of Housing.

In some communities, access to water was just the beginning. We also delivered 48 bicycles to children without nearby schools, rebuilt damaged classrooms, established water committees, and distributed water purification sachets to migrant settlements such as La Pista, home to over 12,000 people living in extreme conditions.

Today, the map of La Guajira looks different. There are now 28 places where water is no longer a distant dream, but a daily reality.

ELDERLY CARE INTERVENTION – CIUDAD BOLIVAR

In July, we received a call from Ciudad Bolivar about the difficult situation of Leonor Castello, a Colombian writer currently facing abandonment. We visited her, bringing clothing, hygiene items, and most importantly, our time and presence.

We also visited more elderly people in the area. We spent time together and made crafts, but most significantly, we listened. Finally, we went door-to-door delivering adult diapers to people living in vulnerable conditions.
