WORKSHOP FOR YOUNG WOMEN DEPRIVED OF THEIR LIBERTY

On August 8th, our Florence Nightingale Brigade volunteers held a workshop on menstrual health in the Zurqui Juvenile Complex in Heredia.

At CADENA Costa Rica, we believe that access to information, self-care, and dignity are fundamental to strengthening human rights.

RESPONSE DURING THE 7TH NATIONAL DRILL

As part of the San Jose Emergency Committee, our staff and volunteers participated as evaluators in the 7th National Drill.
We contributed to strengthening preparedness and response capacities during emergencies in workplaces, reaffirming our commitment to our country’s resilience.

VOLUNTEER TEAM BUILDING

We carried out a Team Building with our volunteers, where we strengthened bonds as a CADENA family and practiced care roles in migratory crisis scenarios, emergencies and in the Agua Ya program.
This was a space for learning, connection, and motivation to continue delivering hand in hand aid.

SAFE WATER FOR TARRAZU AND DOTA

Between August 19th and 20th, we carried out a humanitarian intervention in San Marcos de Tarrazu y Dota, granting access to safe water in communities and schools.

In the San Juan de Tarrazu and Rio Blanco schools, we delivered water purifying filters. At the San Joaquin de Dota school, we also installed a rainwater harvesting system. Additionally, we benefited over 40 families with water filters in the communities of San Joaquin de Dota and San Rafael.

This intervention was made possible by the joint effort of our staff and volunteers, the Club de Leones of Los Santos, and the support of Urban Rescue.

YOUTH LEADING CHANGE IN GUACALILLO

As a part of our Yo Respondo program, on August 24th, we organized a beach cleaning day at Guacarillo Beach, alongside Liceo de San Jose students and CADENA volunteers, and with the support of Green Wolf Costa Rica.

With each piece of trash we collected, we relieved the ocean and proved that young people can become agents of change by joining community actions.

WASH IN EMERGENCIES TRAINING

From August 26th to 29th, we participated in the WASH for Emergencies training, organized by UNICEF Costa Rica with the support of the Canadian government. Thanks to these sessions, our staff enhanced its capacities to continue creating safe and healthy environments in vulnerable contexts.
