EARTHQUAKE RESPONSE IN THE PHILIPPINES

On October 10, two intense earthquakes shook the Davao Oriental region of the Philippines, causing severe damage to homes, infrastructure, and essential services. In the face of this situation, at CADENA International, we deployed our team to support response efforts and collaborate in community recovery processes.

We assisted communities in Manay, Tarragona, and Caraga, providing safe water, psychosocial support, and shelter reinforcement with the support of Start Network and in coordination with local authorities and other humanitarian organizations, such as World Jewish Relief, Operation Blessing, and the Citizens’ Disaster Response Center.

Thanks to our volunteers, allies, and donors, we were able to reach over 7,000 people with community water systems, psycho-educational activities and materials, psychological consultations, construction materials, and shelter reinforcement.

RESPONSE TO HURRICANE MELISSA

On October 28, Category 5 Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica as the strongest storm that has ever hit the island. At CADENA International, we deployed our team to support early recovery efforts by delivering food, solar lamps, and building tools and materials.

DENTAL BRIGADE IN EL SALVADOR

In Estancia, a village in northeastern El Salvador, the lack of access to dental services results in various health problems among its population. Faced with this need, two volunteer dentists from our team provided 294 consultations to children in the community, along with Campesinos para el Desarrollo Humano, a local organization, to reinforce prevention and treatment from an early age.
