INTERDISCIPLINARY MEETING IN LAS GARZAS

In order to strengthen collaboration and to get to know the community’s needs first-hand, we organized a meeting at the Las Garzas Health Center, where the Regional Deputy Director of the Ministry of Health was present. Community leaders, representatives of the Las Garzas Community Board, the MINSA-CAPSI Health Promotion team, and the center’s head physician also participated.

During the session, each leader shared their community’s main concerns, creating an open space for dialogue, needs analysis, and joint solution-building.

This meeting marks an important step towards future actions to effectively address local realities and to promote the comprehensive well-being of families in Las Garzas.

VISIT TO SCHOOL IN TANARA

We visited the Tierra Prometida Bilingual School in Tanara, where we were welcomed by the school’s principal. During the visit, we got to know first-hand the institution’s needs and explored opportunities to help in the future.

The school currently serves 700 students and employs 35 teachers, with a 32-year history of educational service. Among its most urgent priorities are completing a new restroom, adapting a Natural Sciences classroom, improving recreational spaces, and optimizing the school cafeteria.

This visit allowed us to better understand the challenges faced by the educational community and assess opportunities for interventions to improve the well-being and academic experience of students.

NEW BUSINESS FOR FAMILY IN LAS GARZAS

Thanks to the funds raised through various community activities led by volunteers from the Maguen David Academy, we were able to provide meaningful support to an entrepreneurial family through seed capital and donations.

This support enabled the opening of a new family store, operated through their home’s window, that now offers products such as sugar, sodas, cookies, flour, and other essential items.

This intervention aimed to provide a source of stable income for the family, fostering autonomy and strengthening their ability to generate resources sustainably.

Our donation also included supplies both for the business and the home: a mirror, a decorative frame, two bedframes, a television, a refrigerator and freezer, a dining table with four chairs, storage furniture, meals, trash bags, personal hygiene products, flowers, and toys.

TUTORS FOR A CAUSE

We concluded the first annual cycle of our educational program, Tutors for a Cause, a space designed to strengthen learning and provide academic support to children in vulnerable situations. Throughout the year, we held nine weekly tutoring sessions thanks to the commitment of our volunteers and the enthusiasm of the students.

During November, we carried out our final sessions, which coincided with the end of the school year for both the children and our volunteers.
