DISTRIBUTION OF HYGIENE KITS IN LAS GARZAS

This month, we partook in an activity for families with children with disabilities in the municipality of Las Garzas, intending to provide direct aid by distributing essential items. Throughout the day, we delivered a full hygiene kit for each family, as well as books donated by KADI International as tools for the children’s education and development.

PREPARATION FOR THE OPENING OF THE DOS MARES CHILDREN’S DINING HALL

As a part of the process to follow up and evaluate the Children’s Dining Hall, we held a nutritional assessment for children who will use this space. The activity was carried out by two nutriologists and a third volunteer, who took the children’s measurements and weight in order to create an initial register. This information will provide us with referential statistics to periodically evaluate the impact of the dining hall on improving the children’s nutrition once its operations begin.

In the meantime, a group of CADENA volunteer artists painted a mural to create a more welcoming environment for the children who will use the dining hall.

VISIT TO CHILD AND FAMILY GUIDANCE CENTERS IN SAN MIGUELITO

In our work to contribute to granting sustainable access to water, we visited three Child and Family Guidance Centers in the district of San Miguelito to evaluate their potential for the installation of water harvesting tanks. During the visits, we toured each center, listened to their administrative teams, and observed each one’s specific needs, as well as the condition of their existing infrastructure. This evaluation allowed us to identify what each space would require to implement an adequate system to store water for cleaning and daily activities.

DONATION FOR THE CURUNDU CHILDREN’S DINING HALL

At the Curundu Children’s Dining Hall, we detected an important iron deficiency in the children who use this space daily. In order to address this situation, we received a donation of chicken bones provided by Súper Kosher for the preparation of nurturing broths, which will be integrated into daily meals, reinforcing their nutritional value. Additionally, TITÁN donated Crocs to provide the children with comfort and protection both within and outside of the facility.

OPENING OF THE SAN MIGUELITO CHILDREN’S DINING HALL

With great joy, we accompanied the opening of the San Miguelito Children’s Dining Hall, which officially started operating on December 2nd.

We were accompanied by UDELAS volunteers, who worked with CADENA to weigh and measure the children to create a database for us to follow up on their nutritional development.

During the visit, we confirmed the regular use of sustainable solutions we had previously installed: the water harvesting system, which supports the dining hall’s daily needs, and the biodigestor, which was donated by the Embassy of Israel and contributes to proper waste management.

This inauguration marks the beginning of a joint work that will continue to benefit dozens of families, promoting better opportunities and proper nutrition for the children of San Miguelito.
