WATER CRISIS IN EAST PANAMA

In the last few months, the lack of rain has exacerbated the water crisis in vulnerable communities of East Panama. Through our Water for All project, we continued to install water storage tanks for families, providing them with a solution so they can gain access to this essential resource. This initiative was made possible thanks to the support of the Mayor’s Office, which provided materials, and to the joint work of volunteers and locals who helped with the installation.

MAYOR’S OFFICE VISITS LAS GARZASALCALDÍA EN LAS GARZAS

We continue to strengthen community efforts to combat dengue in Las Garzas de Pacora. We were honored to host Mayor Mayer Mizrachi and his team from the Mayor’s Office of Panama, who came to see firsthand the preventative measures we are carrying out alongside MINSA-CAPSI, community leaders, volunteers, and local “larvae hunters” who inspect neighborhoods daily to identify potential breeding grounds. During the visit, we also shared the progress of our Water for All project, an initiative that aims to ensure water access in vulnerable areas, and successfully established an alliance to continue expanding its impact in the community. Additionally, we highlighted the work being done at the Las Garzas Children’s Dining Hall in the Dos Mares community, where we provide meals and support to local children. We also received significant food donations to strengthen this space and benefit even more families.

CHEF AYELET VISITS THE DOS MARES DINING HALL

We welcomed Chef Ayelet to the Dos Mares Children’s Dining Hall, where she generously shared her knowledge and expertise with our team. During her visit, she helped us design a nutritious and balanced weekly menu for the children, specifically tailored to our available ingredients and the community’s dietary needs. She also taught us practical and efficient ways to optimize our ingredients, reduce waste, and prepare healthy and flavorful recipes using the food we have on hand. Additionally, as part of her support, she donated tomato sauce made from rescued tomatoes, promoting food optimization and waste reduction.
