CADENA Panama was established in November 2022 in the face of the humanitarian crisis caused by a significant rise in the immigration flow to Panama City. Since then, we have continued assisting vulnerable populations in our country through humanitarian interventions and resilience programs.

Why are we located in Panama?

Thousands of people cross the Darién Gap on a daily basis, an area of heavy tropical vegetation between Colombia and Panama. The vast majority of them intend to reach North America; Panama is just a transit point on their way. Due to the difficulties and inhospitable conditions of the Darién jungle, people on the move have numerous needs, and CADENA aims to provide them with care and humanitarian aid. CADENA Panama is working hand in hand with government institutions and other NGOs in the country to provide support in the face of this crisis.

CADENA Panama is working to bring resilience solutions to people in vulnerable situations. In addition, the most populated and rural areas in Panama are undergoing a water supply crisis. As a result, a great number of communities do not have access to this vital resource, which hinders their daily life. We design solutions, including the harvesting of rainwater, a rich natural resource in our country, and we work together with government institutions and private companies to have a positive impact on the quality of life of the population.

Since our work involves numerous aspects, it has to take place on multiple fronts. This is just the beginning, and we look forward to continuing our growth and generating an impact at a national level.
