PSYCHOSOCIAL RECOVERY: REBUILDING ALSO MEANS BEING THERE FOR ONE ANOTHER
September marked three months since the earthquakes that transformed the lives of numerous families in La Guaira. With support from partners such as the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) and World Jewish Relief (WJR), CADENA Venezuela continued providing psychosocial support in the communities of Brisas de Maiquetía and Ciudad Piar.
Throughout the month, we held three community gatherings that reached more than 146 people. These activities add to the more than 500 psychosocial support sessions provided since the emergency began.
Through activities such as bingo and dancing, families found opportunities to connect, enjoy recreational activities, and strengthen their community ties, supporting emotional well-being and the gradual return to everyday life. In addition, more than 28 children and adolescents participated in activities using our Resilience Book, a tool designed to help them identify and express their emotions as they navigate the losses and difficult experiences they have faced.
At the same time, we conducted four needs-assessment visits in different communities affected by the earthquakes, reaching nearly 350 people. The information gathered will help guide the next stages of our response, which include construction projects, minor repairs, the distribution of early-recovery supplies, and initiatives to improve access to safe drinking water.
We continue working hand in hand with communities to address their needs and help rebuild the conditions they need to move forward.
