PARTNERSHIPS THAT REACH FURTHER

When we join forces, we can reach more people and respond to more needs. In September, several companies and foundations joined CADENA’s response in Buenaventura and Chocó to support families affected by the earthquake.

In Buenaventura, together with Fundación Éxito, we distributed 2,600 food packages, 603 of which were made possible through donations from Patprimo and Seven Seven. In addition, alongside Food For The Poor, we continued installing water filters to provide safe drinking water and delivering medical care in local communities. Miniso also contributed stuffed animals to bring comfort and a message of solidarity to families.

In Chocó, our collaboration with Fundación Éxito made it possible to distribute another 3,000 food packages, benefiting 12,000 people. Totto supported the distribution of nearly 1,000 bags containing pillows, thermoses, water, caps, and T-shirts in Tutunendo, La Encharcá, Bocas de Suruco, and Istmina, as well as at a shelter in the region. These bags also reached Buenaventura. Meanwhile, Tramontina donated cookware sets to families in La Encharcá and Bocas de Suruco, helping them regain a sense of normalcy in their daily lives.

BEYOND WHAT MEETS THE EYE

From the earliest moments of the emergency, CADENA has worked alongside communities affected by the earthquake in Roldanillo, Cali, Buenaventura, and Chocó. Through a response that combines direct assistance, logistical coordination, and on-the-ground efforts, more than 18,400 people have received humanitarian assistance in Valle del Cauca and Chocó.

Reaching these communities involves much more than delivering aid. It requires identifying needs, coordinating teams, mobilizing resources, and overcoming geographical challenges to reach those who need support most. Above all, it means listening, understanding each community’s circumstances, and ensuring that assistance responds to people’s actual needs.

To date, our efforts have included the distribution of food and essential supplies, access to safe drinking water, psychosocial support, and the provision of tools to help communities rebuild. This work has been made possible through partnerships with Food For The Poor, Fundación Postobón, World Jewish Relief, Tramontina, Grupo Éxito, Fundación Éxito, HelpAge, Awesome Cargo, Alimenta la Solidaridad, Centro Médico Docente La Trinidad, and other partners.

Behind every statistic are people, stories, and a network of volunteers, field teams, partners, and donors who have chosen to get involved. An emergency may fade from the headlines, but recovery continues. We remain on the ground, and we need more people to join us to sustain this response.
