HUMANITARIAN INTERVENTIONS IN LAS GARZAS AND PACORA

Throughout July, CADENA Panama, in collaboration with local Jewish volunteers, led a series of humanitarian initiatives in communities in Las Garzas and Pacora.

We visited the Children’s Hospital, where we shared meaningful moments with long-term patients and began exploring sustainable ways to provide them with essential supplies.

TUTORS FOR A CAUSE

The Tutors for a Cause project remains strong at CADENA Panama, offering weekly, personalized academic support to nine students. These tutoring sessions aim to reinforce their learning processes and provide a consistent space for educational growth.

DENGUE ZERO

We continue our fight against dengue in Las Garzas with a multifaceted approach. This month, we donated a new fogging machine to support ongoing fumigation efforts. Additionally, we facilitated workshops on proper water storage practices to reduce mosquito breeding sites. These efforts are designed to mitigate immediate risks and empower residents with the tools to lead autonomous dengue prevention efforts.

WATER NOW

As part of our Water for All program, we installed 12 new water storage units throughout Las Garzas. These installations will significantly improve access to safe water, especially benefiting households experiencing extreme vulnerability and families caring for children with disabilities.

MEETING WITH SINAPROC – LAS GARZAS

At CADENA Panama, we convened a meeting in coordination with representatives from the National Civil Protection System, the Ministry of Health, and community leaders in Las Garzas. During the session, we evaluated disaster evacuation plans and proposed the development of capacity-building workshops focused on rescue and emergency response techniques, with the goal of strengthening local preparedness for future disasters.

SAN MIGUELITO SOUP KITCHEN

Progress continues toward the opening of a new children’s soup kitchen in San Miguelito. Thanks to the support of the Israeli Embassy in Panama, we successfully installed a biodigester, which transforms organic waste into biogas, a renewable energy source for cooking, heating, and generating electricity.

The center is also equipped with a rainwater harvesting system and has been approved by the Ministry of Health to begin operations soon.

DENTAL BRIGADE

With the support of CADENA Panama volunteer and dentist Miguel, we have launched the organization of a dental brigade. Alongside volunteers, we are preparing to visit the Curundu Children’s Soup Kitchen to offer dental check-ups and oral hygiene education for children in the program.
