CADENA IN ACTION: RESPONSE TO HEAVY RAINS

In August, several communities in Mexico City, Queretaro, and Chihuahua were affected by heavy rains and flooding. At CADENA Mexico, we immediately activated our emergency response protocols: we provided tools to first responders to strengthen their efficacy, carried out a Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (EDAN) in Queretaro to better understand impacts and harm, and supported families in Chihuahua who lost household belongings. We were able to deliver this hand in hand aid thanks to the support of SANTUL and Fundación Coppel.

FOOD KITS FOR 12 COMMUNITIES IN SONORA

On August 13th, we arrived at Quiriego, Sonora, where 12 communities face extreme poverty and high flood risk. With the support of AXA, we were able to deliver 1,200 food kits that benefited over 4,800 people. The logistics represented a challenge due to the dispersion of the communities, but thanks to the commitment of our team and volunteers, every parcel was delivered hand in hand to those who needed it most.

DELIVERY OF ELECTROLYTES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY

Proper hydration is key during any emergency. Because of this, and thanks to our alliance with Jumex, we delivered over 15,000 electrolytes throughout the country in August. This aid reached people in transit in Nezahualcoyotl, brigaders working in the capital, children in the State of Mexico, Hidalgo, and Mexico City, and Mazahua communities in Valle de Bravo.

PATHFINDERS 2025: PREPARING OURSELVES FOR BETTER RESPONSES

At CADENA, we acknowledge that preparedness helps build more resilient communities. Because of this, in August, we launched our yearly training for our Pathfinders, designed to prepare teams capable of responding appropriately, ethically, and humanely in emergency scenarios. Under the coordination of Sanahe García, our volunteers will strengthen their skills on humanitarian standards, field safety, and crisis management, reaffirming their commitment to act with professionalism and closeness to the communities we serve. This training marks a milestone, ensuring that every future intervention will be carried out with excellence and care.
