CADENA CJG CONTINUES SUPPORTING ALTA VERAPAZ IMPLEMENTING START ALERT 1006, FLOOD ANTICIPATION
On November 14, in communities of San Pedro Carchá, and thanks to the support of Start Newtwork and the Guatemala Hub, we delivered solar lamps, megaphones, and tools for Local Coordinators for Disaster Reduction members in Chioyá, Setaña, Sehaché, and Sehubub, Alta Verapaz.
These items will improve communication in critical moments, ease local organization, and boost response capacities in the face of flooding and landslides. Over 3,000 people were directly benefited by these actions and now count on better tools to face emergencies.
WE PARTICIPATED IN THE GUATEMALA HUB MEMBERS’ ASSEMBLY
On November 27 and 28, we participated in the Guatemala Hub Members’ Assembly as part of the Guatemala Hub and Start Network.
During the session, CADENA CJG shared its experience as lead partner in implementing Anticipatory Action Alert 1006 for floods in Alta Verapaz, highlighting results and lessons learned that strengthen communities’ disaster response capacities. The Start Fund Protocol and Humanitarian Innovation Model Methodology were also presented, and progress on the Disaster Risk Financing Program was reviewed, addressing the challenges that still need to be overcome.
