Guatemala

Since 2012, we began introducing response teams to Guatemala for the people most in need. We coordinated several cases of humanitarian action in the area for a few years before formally establishing offices in the country in October 2018.

Why are we located in Guatemala?

Due to its geographical position, disasters, population density, and high levels of poverty, Guatemala ranks fifth globally in terms of vulnerability to significant economic disruption after a worldwide disaster. According to data from the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) and the World Bank, in a 2010 study on Disaster Risk Management in Latin America and the Caribbean Region.
At CADENA Guatemala, we are committed to transforming realities and ensuring that vulnerable communities strengthen their autonomy and resilience. Our local goals fall in line with the mission of all our international teams. This means that we seek to relieve human suffering by reducing the vulnerability of populations living at risk of disasters and crises.
