We started operating in 2005 when we established our first office in Mexico City. Since then, our team has grown and expanded to other countries.

Why are we located in Mexico?

Mexico’s geographic location is the meeting point of five tectonic plates, all of which are inside the Ring of Fire, a tectonic belt with 90% of all of the world's volcanic system. Moreover, the country is located between the Pacific and the Atlantic oceans.
This geological combination makes Mexico a territory highly susceptible to a variety of phenomena, including hurricanes, earthquakes, intense rains, landslides, and volcanic activity. On the other hand, it has a large number of vulnerable populations without an appropriate risk management system.
Furthermore, Mexico is a transit country. Every year, thousands of people try to reach the United States through the northern border. Protection measures for people on the move are scarce, meaning their safety and health are at risk, partly due to a lack of access to basic services.
The number of forced displacements has increased in recent years due to multiple and increasingly frequent disasters and crises in Latin America. This has complicated the response, in addition to the fact that the composition of the groups that arrive in the country has changed. Before, they were mostly men; now, women and girls also migrate, which implies an even greater protection challenge.
This means that our work has to cover many fronts, from emergency care to prevention and resilience programs.
