FLOOD RESPONSE
This month, at CADENA Mexico, we continued to support communities in their recovery processes following severe flooding at the end of last year and the frost season they are facing since January.
In Mixtla de Altamirano, Veracruz, thanks to Promotora Social México, we benefited over 1,500 people with food kits, cots with mattresses, blankets, cleaning and hygiene kits, and community water filters. We also offered medical and dental consultations and distributed free medications.
Meanwhile, in Tamazunchale, San Luis Potosi, we reached over 4,000 people with food kits, electric stoves, and hygiene kits thanks to the support of Promotora Social México and Fundación Coppel.
FROST RESPONSE
The frost season, which continues until today, has affected several communities throughout the country, especially in northern states and mountainous regions. In this context, we launched two humanitarian interventions to support vulnerable populations.
In Mina, Nuevo Leon, we distributed food kits, blankets, and community water filters for 1,300 people. Additionally, in Quiriego, Sonora, we carried out a medical and dental brigade and delivered seeds to support the community’s food safety following the effects of low temperatures on local agriculture.
These achievements were made possible thanks to Promotora Social México and Fundación Coppel.
WILDFIRE PREVENTION
In Mexico, the wildfire season tends to intensify between the months of April and June, making anticipatory actions especially important throughout that part of the year. At CADENA, together with Probosque, we cut firebreaks in La Cañada, Huixquilucan, to prevent wildfires in the region.
