WE SUPPORTED A FAMILY ALONGSIDE VOLUNTEERS FROM THE ALBERT EINSTEIN INSTITUTE

This month, we had the opportunity to support a family made up of a single mother and her eight children, who share their home with their aunt. One of the girls lives with a disability, making it even more important to improve the conditions of the space in which the children are growing up.

We carried out several interventions to dignify the family’s home: we placed tile flooring in the kitchen, repaired the electrical system, and painted the house’s interior and exterior. We also built a new room to provide the family with more comfort and privacy.

These efforts were made possible by the commitment of 30 volunteers from the Albert Einstein Institute, as well as the valuable support of community leaders and local volunteers, who worked hand in hand to bring this transformation to life.

VISIT TO THE LAS CLARAS CENTER

We visited the Las Claras Center to support teenage mothers with educational activities. This time, 30 young women participated in two workshops designed to strengthen their practical and personal skills. We also conducted a sewing class and a second workshop focused on self respect, self esteem, and personal presentation.

We are grateful for the support of fashion designer Ilana Betesh and motivational coach Jenny Cohen, as well as the participation of 13 volunteers from the Albert Einstein Institute, who were present at each of the day’s activities.

VOLUNTEER ARTIST AT THE DOS MARES CHILDREN’S DINING HALL

At the Dos Mares Children’s Dining Hall, we were joined by a volunteer artist who gave her time and talent to paint a mural on one of the walls with CADENA’s logo and the dining hall’s name. We also had the opportunity to help prepare and serve lunch for the children that day.

CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL + LAS GARZAS

Together with the Las Garzas MINSA CAPSI and the Children’s Hospital, we conducted a workshop for parents, tutors, and families with children with disabilities in the community. This space included the participation of the Equal Opportunities Office, as well as health professionals from the Children’s Hospital (a doctor, a psychologist, and a psychiatrist), who provided first aid tools focused on children with disabilities, information on comprehensive care, and orientation on available resources, benefits, and services.

We also held a peer counseling workshop titled “Among Us: Supporting Each Other to Provide Better Care”, to encourage families going through similar situations to help each other. Participants in this session included the director of the Las Garzas MINSA CAPSI, as well as pediatricians and medical specialists, the social development team, and social workers, to strengthen the relationship between the hospital and the community health center. We were also joined by the National Secretary of Disability, who reinforced the inter-institutional commitment to inclusion and comprehensive care.
