About Us

Get to know us

We are a civil society organization focused on disaster and crisis prevention and assistance.

In CADENA, we have drawn the distinction between two groups. On the one hand, there are people who are willing and are able to provide assistance; on the other hand, there are those who need assistance. Jewish communities across the world, volunteers, the private sector, and various civil society organizations comprise the first group. The latter includes a range of vulnerable populations in the face of disasters and crises.

People
We aim to include any person regardless of their gender, race, religious beliefs, or orientation.
Humanitarian
This consists of the values set forth in the Humanitarian Charter, namely, impartiality, neutrality, humanity, and independence.
Resilient world
In CADENA, we seek to build resilience, i.e., to improve the ability to overcome any adversity.

Our guidelines

Our mission

Our mission

Our mission is to reduce the vulnerability of populations facing disasters and crises, all in the pursuit of relieving human suffering. We aim at achieving this goal through prevention, prompt response, and hand-in-hand aid.

Our vision

Our vision

Our vision is to bridge the gap between vulnerable communities and the people engaged in healing the world by promoting autonomy, resilience, and driving society towards more inclusive, co-responsible, and supportive models.

Our pillars

Aid

Our strong commitment to prompt response in the face of disasters and humanitarian crises, a commitment demonstrated by being present from the onset of the emergency until the recovery stage.

Educate

A critical motive for achieving a transformation of the world, is the aim to promote co-responsibility, as well as to sow a humanitarian attitude both at the individual and the collective levels.

Spread

The last pillar is the need to raise awareness and sympathy, and to spread the willingness to provide assistance to people who need it most.

Hand-in-hand

One of our distinguishing characteristics is that we deliver hand-in-hand aid. The point is not only to provide support, but also to create moments where we can meet with others, as well as with the great array of contexts and situations they exist in. Our volunteer teams always come back home with a story, a face, a memory.

In CADENA, we believe our assistance should focus both on pragmatics and ethics. We bestow great importance to the meeting of people, since these meetings provide us with humanity.

Tikkun Olam

Tikkun Olam is the project to heal the world. Rather than an ideal, this project is an attitude that involves coming face to face with indifference to provide for other people and to be aware of the position that each person has in the world. This project is also about being aware of our ability to take action and reflecting on the several contributions all of us can make when the world faces challenging situations.
For our organization, Tikkun Olam is a philosophical framework through which to understand reality.
