WE STRENGTHENED ELDERLY CARE IN SANTA CRUZ DEL QUICHE
As part of our humanitarian work in Santa Cruz del Quiche, at CADENA Jewish Community of Guatemala, we shared a meaningful day at the Sor Herminia Home on July 4th, aiming to enhance caregiver skills and to provide direct support to residents.
During the intervention, we worked alongside our volunteers, who actively participated in the training sessions for the home’s caregivers. Through practical, reflective activities, we provided tools for comprehensive and dignified elderly care, centering empathy, emotional support, and emergency preparedness.
We also delivered winter kits to residents, helping mitigate the effects of low temperatures in the region. These kits directly benefited 48 people.
We thank the Sor Herminia Home’s team for opening their doors, and our volunteers for showing, once again, that solidarity builds actions that dignify others.

UNITED FOR GOOD: DELIVERY OF HUMANITARIAN AID AND ASSISTANCE TO THE JUAN PABLO II HOME
On Wednesday, July 23rd, alongside our CADENA CJG professionals and volunteers, we delivered essential humanitarian aid; an effort made possible thanks to the generosity of allies and key donors.
We collaborated in the organization and management of donations received by the Juan Pablo II Home for the Elderly, which was recently affected by a devastating fire that severely damaged its facilites.
To everyone who made this possible, thank you.
LA ANTIGUA GUATEMALA: WE ENHANCED CAPACITIES AND ALLIANCES AT THE HUB GUATEMALA EXTRAORDINARY ASSEMBLY
On July 30 and 31, at CADENA, the humanitarian arm of the Jewish Community of Guatemala,
we participated in the Guatemala HUB Members Extraordinary Assembly held in La Antigua Guatemala. This meeting was developed in the framework of a specialized workshop on the enhancement of capacities for the activation of Start Fund alerts.
Key topics for humanitarian response were addressed during these sessions, including a review of the HUB’s financial model, intervention program, niche protocol, and types of emergencies prioritized by Start Fund, as well as the alert cycle and the rapid alert emission process.
We contributed with proposals regarding topics concerning floods, we participated in a simulated alert activation, and made technical observations aimed at enhancing response mechanisms.
As a result, we were able to incorporate concrete motions into the HUB’s programmatic guidelines, we clarified operational aspects of the alert protocol, and tightened direct coordination bonds with other member organizations.
We will continue to collaborate with HUB members to create humanitarian projects that respond to possible emergencies and to contribute to the development of risk reduction programs.
